Hi All,
Just installed 19.xx.125 and it freezes when selecting a folder in Video\
Thinking it might be the HTPC, I also upgraded my second PC which was running 19.xx.121 and same result.....
Not really urgent, but a fix would keep the family happy.

Rolled back to 19.0.124 and all fine.

What do you mean by "folder" (a particular View, or do you have MC set up to actually browse the filesystem in Theater View)? And, is it a particular "folder" (or set of files) that causes it, or whenever you open anything under Video?
Lastly, just to confirm, does rolling backwards to the previous build "fix" it? You can download:
Build 124: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=88373.0
Build 121 (if you don't still have it): http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=88012.0

Doh! You posted this while I was answering.
Can you answer my other questions though?

MC is set up to browse folders. eg Films, Musicals etc - it does this "by path" expression:
replace([Filename (path)], V:\)&datatype=[list]
This works beautifully in both video and audio and allows me to do some preliminary classification of vids and music ....
Thanks for the swift reply.
-
FYI: You can remove this part from your expression:
&datatype=[list]
It serves no purpose in that context.

Cool.
Can you confirm this?

Lastly, we'd like a log (and Hendrik might want a Crash Dump). Refer here:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Center_Troubleshooting_Guide#Enable_Logging
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging
And, if it is hanging and not crashing, then the Logging "Collect for Output" function won't include a crash dump (because it didn't crash), so follow these instructions I just wrote today to generate one:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=88436.msg607029#msg607029
Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
First off, I start in Theatre View, scroll across the screen to Video, select Video and see all my folders.
Scrolling across to "Films" when I select this folder is when the program hangs.
I didn't try any others. but will reinstall .125 on my second pc and see what happens.

Here is the log.
V:\Children - ok.
V:\Films , Documentary, all hang.

Seems unlikely because rolling back to an older version fixes it, but humor me and do a chkdsk scan on V (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_Disks).
Also, if you can create the Dump as described in the thread I linked to above, it may assist them in tracking down the bug. Then, feel free to use build 124 for now until they get the problem sorted (assuming chkdsk didn't find and fix a bunch of errors).
-
The crash dump in your log file seems to indicate you're suffering from a bug that was already reported in the release thread.
I've already fixed it, and the next version should be good to go again.
Sorry for the trouble.
-
The crash dump in your log file
That'll teach me to look and not believe the thread.
Since he said "freeze" I (incorrectly) concluded that it was hanging, not crashing, and therefore there'd be no crash dump in there. Now, had I looked... ::) ;D

I imagine if you're in fullscreen theater view, a crash in the background may look like a freeze.

Yep.

And to be very specific: If MC encounters an error that causes it to throw a modal error dialog, then that dialog will hold Windows focus until it is dismissed. However MC TheaterView is now so good at keeping itself on top that the user may never actually see the modal dialog box (it is hidden behind MC) and therefore he can't see that he has to click on a button to dismiss it.
I encountered this problem a few months ago. MC was throwing such a modal error dialog, and if I pressed Windows ALT+TAB I could see a thumbnail sized image of the modal dialog, but I could never actually switch the Window focus to it. And unfortunately the thumbnail was too small for me to read what the error was, so I never found out what was causing it. And in the meantime I "did some stuff" and the error no longer appears, but I am none the wiser about what was causing it...
