Went to rip tracks from a commercial CD, Internet on but no CDDB info avail???
Have heard there may be a problem with this company & MJ ... Can anyone elaborate?

There is no problem with CDDB. Could be interference from another program or could be a firewall or proxy problem. Proxy settings are in MJ/settings/options in the CDDB section.
Try a search on cddb here and read other messages.

maybe if you get no info you can enter it manualy and submit it?
is it just that one cd-rom or all of them?
