DVD switches to 50Hz from my 60Hz desktop but when full disc ripped to HDD does not auto switch, please fix, this has been going on for a long time and I'm totally sick of it! It doesn't seem to happen witch every PAL DVD (I think) but below is one example.
Starship Troopers - Special Edition E00250
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Starshiop+troopers+E00250&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb&gfe_rd=cr&ei=c4Y_U9WMPMmN8Qe5voHAAw#channel=sb&q=Starship+troopers+E00250&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&spell=1
Also I found the first time you play the above release (from DVD or HDD) it won't actually start and you have to start it by going to the SCENE SELECTION menu and playing the first title.
XBMC has no such problems, grumble grumble.

MC switches based on the value in the FPS field in your library. You can check what the field contains, and even correct it if need be.
-
Yes I know but with all due respect I don't want to have to correct it; why should I?
Numerous other software players can do this; switch to 50 FPS automatically when playing a PAL DVD rip.

I did not include 50Hz in this config for madVR (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=86201.msg607160#msg607160), as few displays support it.
It should automatically play back 25fps films at 24Hz rather than the sped-up 50Hz rate, though it might be switching to 60Hz if you display only supports that. It's rare that a screen will do 50/60 and not 24 though.
If you display does not support 24Hz, you will also have to uncheck the "treat 25p movies as 24p" option as well.
Check the "Display Modes" section of the guide linked at the bottom of my post for instructions on how to do this.
Note: You should only use either the Media Center or the madVR display mode switcher, and not both.
I would personally recommend using the madVR one.

Thanks for your reply and help, but this issue has been going on long before I applied your MadVR settings, it's been going on for years.
My display supports 23.97, 24, 50, 59.94 and 60Hz refresh rates.
I'll try what you suggested.
-
It does NOT seem to have worked unfortunately.
I disabled "automatic change mode" in JRiver.
I then made the changes to the MAD VR settings as attached.
JRiver just plays the PAL DVD full disc rip at the refresh rate of my Desktop (60Hz) and won't switch.
Thanks for your replays once again.

Now that I think about it, it would have created a new display profile for you anyway, so those settings would not have been applied.
Delete the Sony TV (it's not possible for me to create a profile like that without a display) and set it for your Panasonic screen.
-
Yep I actually did that and came back to read your reply.
IT WORKS, oh my goodness thank you!
It now even switches to 24Hz for 50Hz PAL DVD rips and plays them silky smooth with VideoClock in real time.
I'm so happy, I hope you're on the JRiver payroll.
Cheers.
