Title: Renderer question
Post by: iamimdoc on April 05, 2014, 11:05:25 am
Currently have jriver 19 on caps1 server.  JRemote controls and does well but scrolling through thousands of albums can lag at times.

If I were to get another faster PC,  put JRiver on it along with the library, could I make the caps 1 into a zone as the destination for the music and would this likely improve sorting, finding, etcetera performance ?

Thanks

In my case I'm streaming video to the master unit. With gigabit ethernet adapters/switches and Cat.6 cable - it all works fine. So, while not a mirror image of what your considering it's not a bad reflection of what could be.

I've found that I use Gizmo/Webgizmo a fair bit to effectively stream audio in a headless fashion using control from my smartphone or another PC.

Regarding performance improvement, I'd expect you'll struggle to get an iron clad forecast. However, audio is a less arduous challenge than video so I'd expect that success shouldn't be too hard to attain.
