Hi All
Got a problem already seen (or close) here and there but not real solution so far...
Got the latest JRiver 19.0.125 127, Win 8.1 Pro 64, Installation with non admin user (also try with admin one), no security tools (except Windows default one)
When trying to activate RO HQ, MC is trying to download the component but visibly fallback to EVR...
Madvr directory created in the plugin one but remains empty...
Funnily, EVR (LAV) was downloaded properly few minutes before... >:(
-
You could try the latest build, i.e. 127, as there have been madVR and LAV updates implemented recently:
19.0.127 (4/9/2014)
13. Changed: Red October updated to LAV Filters 0.61.2.
19.0.126 (4/7/2014)
3. Changed: Red October HQ uses madVR version 0.87.9.
I noticed that the video display hesitated when I fired up 19.0.127 for the 1st time and the "install components" flashed up. So, something worked for me.. ;)

I just updated to .127 and I'm having this problem as well. MC keeps flashing "adding components" when starting a video and goes away fairly quickly. Looking at the filters in use MC has fallen back to using EVR not madvr.
-
Sorry, it's .127 (not .125)...
-
Now I can't get MC to use madvr at all. I went back to 125 then tried 121 and it always uses EVR. I have another install of madvr I use for MPC_HC, tried forcing madvr in the custom settings but MC still uses EVR, I can force it to use VMR9 though. I looked in \AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 19\Plugins\madvr and it appears the files are there so I'm not sure what to do next?
-
I also just updated to .127 and it seems the MadVR download went fine. MC is using MadVR like before. Maybe there's been some temporary problems with the components download server?
-
Went fine on my main computer. But not working on the client computer downstairs. It's defaulting to EVR after trying to download ... There may have been an issue with servers, but now it's not working at all on the computer that was used yesterday (the Client). THe main computer does work, but then again I tried a video this morning. Maybe something gets corrupted after failing ....

madvr download went fine on three different machines here (this morning) with build 127.

You can always delete the madVR plugin folder, which will task MC to download again. That may resolve issues.
You can find it here:
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 19\Plugins

Firewall?

Every few updates I have the problem noted above.
To solve I simply reboot then components install fine.
127 didn't have any issues for me.
I use bitdefender and have ridiculously slow internet. Either may play a part.
-
Well in my case it was the antivirus. It was blocking MC access to dbghelp.dll in the madvr plugin folder. After allowing that all is working again.
-
Thanks for reporting the solution.
-
Oddly, I don't have a virus checker on my server (may change that, but then again, we don't surf or email on it ...), so deleting the madVR folder was the solution
-
Worked fine here, but I was on that version anyway.
Nice touch to pull my settings from the registry into a settings.bin file, retaining my new Profiles.

Hi All
Back home yesterday, I suppressed the directory and still no good... :-\
Then, I wondered, what if the protected network of the country I am living in, was creating a problem... ?
It happens sometimes, sites we cant access due to our location... either prohibited or perturbed by the mandatory governmental proxies...
So I start a VPN to Europe and bingo, MadVR installed in a snap...
Case close for me then... Thanks for your support...

I have been using madVR 0.87.6 and then upgraded to MC19 build 128.
Every time it plays a video, there is about 30 seconds of the "Acquiring..." message. After the first occurrencew of the message, the plugin folders have the same versions of madVR and LAV mentioned in the 128 notes, so the downloads worked, so it should not need to acquire anything during subsequent video playbacks.
I tried two of the solutions above a) rebooting, and b) disabling all antivirus and neither helped. I am in the USA, so the third does not apply.
If I delete the madVR plugin folder will I lose all the 0.87.6 settings that I spent hours creating ?

Does Red October HQ's madVR store settings in a different place than a manually installed madVR ?
-
Aha ! The problem here was that I had enabled the madVR setting to have the madVR tray icon to persist all the time, independently of MediaCenter.
So, it could not finish updating that part of madVR, because it was locked since it was still running.

Also encountered this issue today, running MC as Administrator one-time fixed the issue.

Hi, i upgraded video card from ATI 7750 to R9 280X to use NNEDI, upgraded from .125 to .128, JRiver downloaded new madvr but now if i use redoctober HQ with any madvr setting, the PC shuts down and restart, expecially if i try to move movie scroll bar
This doesent' happen with standard video or in MPCHC and MADVR...but i need jriver for audio!
