Title: "Convert Format" fails to convert certain video files to audio
Post by: pahunt on April 12, 2014, 04:14:23 pm
Hi,

Running 19.0.127 and I'm trying to extract the audio from some MKV video files into MP3 files using the "Convert Format" option. Some of them complete successfully and some of them fail (no error, just says "Failed" in the status column) but there does appear to be a pattern as all of the videos that fail have XVID video with AC3 audio, where as the ones that succeed have AVC1 video with AC3 audio.

I can provide sample files if that would help or if there is a way for me to get more information about what's going wrong I'd be happy to do that.

Thanks

Hi Paul,
Do you have a small sample you could provide a link to?
Thanks
Nathan

Here's a 15MB sample file that fails:

Hi Paul,
Got it.  The original has 5.1 Audio and if you want to convert it to MP3 you have to set the DSP to downmix to 2ch for MP3.  Have a look at the pic on how to do this.  With these settings it converts fine.
Thanks
Nathan
