Title: JR plays to 5 and then back to zero
Post by: GROBEC on April 19, 2014, 07:48:23 am
Hi all.
When a track begins, the counter shows movement from 1-5 but then gooes back to one.
it then sometimes plays ok but often just does it again until finally MC crashes.
I notice it most often when playing files of different resolutions, especially ISO, DSF, and DFF.
I searched the forum but could not find any answers for this.
Any ideas?

What are you playing to?  If it is a DLNA / UPnP device, not all devices work in both directions (push or pull) or for all formats.

hi
When I select a track or album to play, the counter on JR goes from zero 1,2,3,4,5 and then back to zero. This happens occasionally. It is common with Hi-res, DSD, and iso and sometimes after 1-3 loops it does begin to play. Other times it just goes back to and stays at zero and sometimes crashes JR.
It also has happened with regular FLAC files but this is more rare.
I Googled and have seen others with this issue but so far no suggested remedies.
My guess it has to do with either MC connectivity to the renderer [ although the renderer still shows in the top window as active] or it is having a hard time to lock in on the requested resolution?

Sorry.
ADDING
Playing to the new PS Audio DirectStream DAC. But I also had the same issue with the PWD.
My network is rock solid and wired.

I too have noted this behavior, several times in the past, and it is still a bi-weekly occurrence.

MC feeding a PWD over Ethernet.

Anyone have any experience or suggestions about this issue?

If you are using the bridge in the DirectStream or the Perfectwave, thats where I would look. You need to wait out for Bridge II

I'm curious as to what makes you say that…

Thanks     JJ

I believe this was an issue discussed on PS Audio's site, back when the bridge came out. I also have a bridge and experience the same issue. I live with it. By the way using JRiver/MAC via USB no issues.

Thanks guys.
I suspect you are right and funny how JR shows the Bridge as an active player but still loops the timer.
Today it is doing it with MP3, Flac as well as hi-res.
Rebooting DirectStream/Bridge does not help.
Rebooting the computer/JR does.
That is what made me curious.

It does seem that there are a lot of issues with the PS Audio Bridge.
Most (all?) of these seem to be caused on their end than Media Center.

I am sure it is at least part of the problem.
Most JR users are NOT streaming by Ethernet so we are dealing with a small sampling of users.
Again, rebooting PWD did not solve the issue and rebooting the Mad, did.
I also noticed that when streaming DSD it also counts to 5 and then plays so perhaps it is a combined issue.
Has anyone played DSD vis USB? Does it count to 5 before playing from 1 again?

Lots of people use MC with DLNA or UPnP.

cool.
I did not know that.
What hardware are they streaming with?
