I am running the latest Mac version (124) but have always had high CPU. It runs over 100% all the time when streaming music. I have a 2010 mac mini. I have everything unchecked ( no up sampling, no dsp engaged etc). I can use another player and stream music and and CPU is very low. Any ideas on how to get CPU lower

Antivirus software?

no anti virus

Are you playing over the network or locally? What file format?
Is the spectrum analyzer engaged in the playback window at the top of Media Center (the little bars that bounce with the music)?
If so, right-click on them and un-check the feature.

Unchecked spectral display...CPU at 110%. I am streaming from audio tree on left hand side (connected Media). Sky fm for example streams at over 100% CPU but if I got directly to their site from my browser the CPU is way lower (under 20%). Albums in JRiver play at under 10% CPU.

I see the high cpu usage while playing connected media on my machine as well. We'll look into it.
