Title: Is there a way to choose how much RAM to use ?
Post by: mvilla on April 25, 2014, 08:19:12 am
Hi All,

as per my subject, while using the option "Play file from memory instead of disk", what can I do if I want to use no more than 4GB ?

Many thanks for your support,
Massimo

Memory Play is inherently limited to 1GB  of memory, so your 4GB would never even be reached.

Thank you for your answer. I have another request then.
What if I want to dedicate more than 1 GB of RAM so to load an entire album in HD before playing ?
Do you see issues ? Agree to limit to 80% of total RAM.

That is currently not possible. MC will load and decode the current file into memory, up until around 1GB.

You say "currently". Are you planning to add this functionality ? I'm used to it in foobar under Windows with positive effects.
Thank you for your attention.

Well, I'm just another user like yourself. I don't work for JRiver.

My "currently" was not meant to mean that there are plans for this, no. Not that I am aware, at least.
