Title: Auto enable/disable bitstreaming
Post by: satbox on April 27, 2014, 02:00:32 am
Hello,

I use MC19 for Windows and, as my DAC (Ayre QB-9 DSD) is DSD compliant (only for DSD64), I have enabled bitstreaming in MC and everything works fine.

If I understand correctly, with bit streaming enabled, when I play a standard 44,1kHz/16bit .flac audio file, it is "bitstreamed" to my DAC and the decoding is done by the DAC itself.

My question is: is it possible to let MC detect the format of the source file (DSD or PCM) and auto enable bitstreaming only if required (source file is a DSD one) and disable it if not required (source file is a PCM one)?

Thank you!

It already does exactly this. You can tell it which formats to bitstream (DSD), and it will only bitstream these formats and handle everything else by itself.
For the record, FLAC can never be bitstreamed.
