Help please.
I am a complete newb with Gizmo, I thought I had it but it keeps coming up error communicating with server.
I have tried playing now but still the same.
Love to have this working for my trips.
-
3 Questions:
- Do you have Media Network setup?
- Do you have an Access Key to configure Gizmo?
- Does it work on your local network (wireless at home)?
-
thank you for answering.
yes i have the media network serup
yes i have an access key
no cant get it too connect.
-
Is something else (another PC or something) able to connect to your Server using that access key?
-
I managed to get Images and a song to play on my mobile last night.
This morning I have an error connecting again.
The computer is awake.
-
Does video and music just not work on my phone.
I can play through webgizmo.
-
I think it should work.
Try connecting with Gizmo on ip address and port 52199 instead of using the access key.
-
sorry to be a newb but how is that done
-
First, make sure internet is working and that you're connected to your local wifi network (for now we don't want to connect via your mobile provider). If you need that too, we'll tackle that next. First, we need it to work via local network, wifi.
You connect to webgizmo with a browser, right. In the address bar you use a hostname or ip address, like so:
http://hostname:52199/
or, with an ip address, like so:
http://192.168.0.10:52199/
These are just examples, hostname or the numerical notation 192.168.0.10 will be different in your case. They will be from your library server. Again, this will be in the address bar in your browser when you connect to webgizmo.
When you open Gizmo, tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner. Choose Mode.
Choose New Server ...
type in the address from webgizmo, without the 'http://' and no trailing '/'. It would look like this:
hostname:52199
or
192.168.0.10:52199
Tap 'Go'.
This should work if webgizmo works from the same device.
-
done all that but only pics display.
Videos start to connect then go back to the menu.
-
And to be clear, playing audio and video works from webgizmo on that same device?
-
Unfortunately no.
I am sure I had it working before but I made so many changes.
Can only view pictures, cant play anything.
-
How long ago did you make these changes?
Maybe its wisest to just restore a backup on your library server.
-
I actually meant the phone.
I have logged on to webgizmo on my computer and that works but stutters
-
Well, I'm not sure what's going on, sorry.
Maybe someone else has an idea to help you out.
-
Thanks for your help.
I did read somewhere that installing flash might help!!

Hi maid,
I had to open up a port on the firewall on my PC for it to work. I use Comodo and it can be a little over-zealous at times.
What firewall are you using on your computer? Try adding 'Media Center 19.exe' as a trusted application to the firewall.
An easy way to check whether MC can 'get out' is to run the following test:
Tools > Options > Media Network > Left-click on 'Access Key: xxxxxx' > 'Test Connection To This Server'
If it's successful, the issue lies elsewhere. If it's not, you know why you can't connect to it (it's because it can't connect to JRiver).
In order to use the access key, MC must be able to 'call home' to JRiver to point Gizmo to your MC.
I really do think this is a simple firewall issue from how you've described things.

I dont have a problem with the connection. I can only view pictures it will not play movies.
It says preparing then goes back to the menu
-
how do i connect through my mobile provider
-
disappointed, I have tried other media streamers that play my movies, why cant gizmo?
-
I have the exact same problem on the exact same phone. I had a Samsung S3 before and on that Gizmo worked like clockwork. I have not changed anything on the server, I just switched phones and downloaded the app.
I can access the server via wifi only, outside the network it simply does not connect. I can control the server but I can't listen to anything on the phone, when I try it just says preparing indefinitely.
The really weird thing is that whatever I try to play gets cached onto the phone and I can play it in poweramp. I've tried setting the phone to not cache anything but it still doesn't work.
-
I looked again and I had not turned off caching of tracks completely. I did now and that got it working.
I still can't connect via 3g even though the exact same settings worked for my S3.
-
I have turned off caching and I still get error communicating with server.
I downloaded flashfox and i can play through that but still no 3g
-
FWIW I have a Xperia Z1 working with Gizmo through WiFi and 3G without a problem though I had to manually battle my way through the Windows Firewall and network adapter configuration to get it working, but leastwise from my experience it can be done. btw My Cache download ahead is set for 10 tracks.
However it is still not possible to sync the Xperia Z1 as a handheld, although that would appear to be a very dodgy issue with MC and, I suspect, any Android device running ver 4.x.x judging from the unresolved woes expressed in this forum.

I can only play through the web interface
-
when using flashfox for webgizmo does anyone know how I can put two links into favorites.
If I have jriver open on my office machine I use that key but if I have jriver open on my HTPC I need to use that key but it will not work.

're move those words around so I can help you lol, how many machines are you trying to play from?
-
two.
sometimes JRiver is open on my HTPC
sometimes it is open on my office machine.
I have generated keys for these machines but I cant get a web browser to remember two codes
