Title: Windows Server 2012/ JR19 - will not play .wma files, why? How to adjust?
Post by: kevalin on April 29, 2014, 08:33:45 pm
I have windows system (no mac) and JR18 on my desktop reads .wma fine. By Server has JR19. JR19 determines all .wma 'previously files determined to be bad' when I try to import them, and when I manually go into a single file to play...'there is nothing to read'. Under JR19 setup, I thought I okay'd all formats. This was some time ago. Is there a way to adjust so JRiver reads .wma instead of converting them to FLAC? Hate to loose any quality in the conversion.

Thank you for the help.

You can probably make it work by installing additional media features in Server 2012, specifically the Desktop Experience may contain it.

If it is WMAL (lossless, Microsoft's own FLAC) you won't lose anything as both formats are loss-less.

WMA is a proprietary format.
Only MS can provide it.
As Hendrik pointed out you need to install "something".
