Title: Offline media - Gizmo
Post by: icstm on April 30, 2014, 05:18:24 am
Hi all,

I know that newer Gizmo builds support a cache approach to media storage.
However what would be great is a Plex like function to actually select media for offline viewing/listening.

This way we could store a reasonable amount on our android devices.

How is that different from using MC's sync to handheld?

Hi Jim,
It is similar but mental model is different.
Gizmo is giving you access to your main library and where needed downsampling to meet the needs of the other device.
So:
1) You feel there is a whole library there, even though only some of it might be locally stored
2) bitrates will be suitable for your lower quality listening evironment on the go

Syncing with your main collection means your portable device cannot see the whole collection, only what you have put on there.

AND - if you have nice views set-up in Gizmo for navigating your collection, they might not be able to replicate on your android device.
