Title: Is there any way when you "sort all files by artist (removes grouping temporari
Post by: madplanet on May 01, 2014, 12:53:52 pm
one more question for you, while I have your attention. Is there any way when you "sort all files by artist (removes grouping temporarily)" to stop it being temporarily or at least make the time period longer?
cheers,
Dan

Create a new view for that.

You can Group By > None, but you'll likely want to change it back later anyway, so a new Panes or Categories view with no grouping is probably best.

Hi,

I am having the same problem.  I choose "Customize View," it is set to "Panes."  "Show Categories in this Order" is blank.  No matter what I try, it will not save it as a new view, and it will not stop re-grouping by Album.

Would appreciate any help!

I am using JRiver for Mac 19.

Thank you.

Is this on an MC Library Server client?

Or is this an MC library that you've opened read-only (because some other system has the library open)?

No other system should have it open. I just opened the program on my laptop.

You said you are Customizing the view - which one are you customizing?  The top level Audio view (that's the only one that by default has no categories configured).  If so, create a new view.  Try duplicating one of the original views under Audio, by dragging the view onto the Audio top level.  Hold it there until you see a sub-menu appear.  Select Copy.

Now, customize that copy.

Yes, I have done that.  The views under "Audio" are:
Albums
Artists
Files
Genres
Panes
Recent Albums
<<the new view I made>>
Connected Media

I'm a little puzzled.  Have you tried quitting MC and relaunching it?

Anytime I choose "Save this View" and name it something, then hit "OK," the window re-loads as though I hadn't just done that.  I am still within the "Customize View" options.

I think I'm unclear what you're saying the issue is.  If you want some Remote help, download TeamViewer QS for the Mac, launch it, and PM me the user ID and password it supplies.  I'll connect when I see the PM, and I'll start a chat so we can discuss.  You'll have complete control, and when you quit or we disconnect TeamViewer QS, access is no longer possible.
