Title: streaming bandcamp in J River
Post by: pjwd on May 02, 2014, 11:24:45 pm
Hi - has anyone done this - I can open the page in "playing now" and it shows it is playing but there is no signal showing in j river

I would also like to listen to programs from this site http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/weekendplanet/past-programs/

but cannot get it to work in 19 - it did work in 16

Thanks for any help

Phil

Hello

Streaming through Bandcamp works fine I just listened to Mechanical Sagas on main page (did not listen for very long this musical minimalism ...)
TC

Edit / this syntax worked 4 me with 19
Base : http://www.abc.net.au
Search : http:////www.abc.net.au//radionational//programs//weekendplanet//past-programs/

But you're right.
The rtsp://media1.abc.net.au/rn/mod/wpt-2014-04-20.rm / xxxx  syntax is opened by MC17 (previous version of mine) but not by MC 19.

So you have to got "file association" in Windows and switch the value of [.ASF] & [.ASX] to the new JRiver Mediacenter 19 program. Then I don't know how to get rid of the IE pop-up windows / pick "listen in stand alone player" / open ...but now works MC19.

Thanks TC - bandcamp is now OK ( had to turn off outputs in computer that I thought were already off) - I will have a look at what you have suggested for ABC ( it is a good program for finding new music)

That was fun to "bend around" ! The web/radio program is weekly, so the structure of the mms links go like this :

mms://media3.abc.net.au/rn/mod/wpt-2014-04-06.asf
mms://media3.abc.net.au/rn/mod/wpt-2014-04-13.asf
mms://media3.abc.net.au/rn/mod/wpt-2014-04-20.asf
mms://media3.abc.net.au/rn/mod/wpt-2014-04-27.asf
mms://media3.abc.net.au/rn/mod/wpt-2014-05-04.asf

Year/month/sunday/

So, if you get some help from "JRiver Specialists" (*) over here, U should be able to built a MMS "playlist/smart list" in advance with all weekly programs ahead and just click the appropriate "Sundays" of the year  within 19. This way U would get rid of pop-ups if that's your case.
I don't think the web media option allows you to record the stream while listening thus you may not have your own local files of past weekly programs.
Anyway maybe you're simply using RSS feed.
TC

(*) My use of MC is just limited to Music files.

Edit : No relation, I made a playlist with 1 mms, placed the playlist into a new "Playlist Group" aka "AC Net Au".  I can stream the playlist on my WP8 device through MC19. Interesting to be able to listen to a web radio with only dedicated Apps. for iPhone or Android phones on my Windows Phone and even more interesting, Windows Phone 8 "reset" doesn't back up/restore RSS feed, that's a real + for a MC19 RSS feed library (I reckon this case is a bit special...).
