I'm new to this and am still working my way round everything bit by bit and think I have sussed out most of the features on jriver, but am having one problem I can't seem to work out
I have created a couple of playlists for different occasions and wish to save these in case I lose these playlists as I already did a few days ago which is really annoying
I followed instructions and saved the playlists how I believe the instructions directed me to but for the life of me I can't find the saved playlist to import back into jriver
I saved it to a couple different specific folders and also on to the desktop and when I look for the saved file, it doesn't exist
can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong please or better still explain how to save playlists that I can import back into jriver
Ideally I wish to have multiple playlists but want back ups in case I lose any of these accidentely as I have thousands of tracks and have very little to no time compiling these playlists and don't wish to repeat the process every other day
Thanks

Welcome.
You can export all playlists in one shot:
File > Export All Playlists
and these will be in MC's data folder. The name of this folder where the files are stored will be shown to you.
You can also export a single playlist using File > Export Playlist. You have several playlist file types to choose from.
More importantly, if you are losing playlists, then something else is going wrong. MC will periodically create library backups and you could revert to one of these to see if your playlists exist in the backup. You can also make backups anytime you want manually.

Media Center's ability to save Playlists out is mostly for interchange with other, separate, external applications. These save to disk. I have no idea where you saved them, but they'll be on your hard drive somewhere. Assuming you can computer well enough to find where you saved them, you can re-import these Playlists if needed via File > Import Playlist if you choose, and it'll re-add them to the Playlists section of your Tree (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Tree).
But, that's not important because you're doing it wrong, at a fundamental level.
Media Center automatically makes backups of its entire Library, which includes all Playlists. It does this roughly every two days, and the backups are stored in your My Documents folder (they're Zip files). You can use the Library Manager at any time to restore one of these backups and restore MC to a previous state (completely, including all Options and Settings, or only the Library if you choose).

You shouldn't be "losing" any Playlists, but if you accidentally delete one or whatever, you can always restore one of these backups to get it back.

MrC keeps ninja-ing me because Interact is running crappily for me right now.
Also, you're going too fast:
More importantly, if you are loosing playlists
More importantly, loose women lose virtue. ;) ;D

Loose playlists - could get nasty.

I've tried all this and still can't seem to find the saved file anywhere. once it's saved I then try to import it back into MC and there is no option for the file to be imported so am totally confused. I'm wondering if there is a glitch on the notebook I'm trying to do this on as every other file I save to do with other software is saved to the desktop and very easy to find.
I know it's a lot to ask but if anyone has a few minutes spare and has the ability to do a short screen grab video to show me the correct steps I would really appreciate that and would even contribute a little payment via paypal for their help. I just need to get this fixed as I bought the notebook, software, 2 x pair of outdoor speakers, amplifier, sub bass, literally everything so we could go a little wild with bbq's this summer and can't even get started cos I keep losing the playlist and have no means of getting it back and have very little to no time to keep creating new playlists
thanks in advance

ok, i think I found what the problem is - basically I was doing everything right until the final stage
when I attempt to save playlist the box comes up where to save to etc but for some reason I can't see the full box and it does not allow me to click on the ok button to save as I can't see that button - i can only see as far as OUTPUT RANGE
Does anyone know how I can change this so I can see the complete box please?
-
Maybe the skin you are using?
Or, what is your monitor resolution set to?
-
I am using a toshiba nb250 notebook for this and it looks like there are only two settings for screen resolution and both of them still show the same thing so still can't see the full box
the resoltuion is from one extreme to the next with no in betweens
is there maybe a setting with MC for me to change the box size?
-
ok, I think I've solved it - there were internal settings within MC for me to be able to change the overall size which now allows me to see the ok button so problem fixed
thanks guys for all your help with this. I don't think I would have been able to fix this without your help, in particular the guy who mentioned the use of SKIN as the size setting was right below that option
thanks again :)
