Is there a way to automatically keep Artist and Album Artist in sync?

Nope.
May I ask why the need?

What do you mean by keeping them "in sync"?
If there is only one artist listed, [Album Artist (auto)] will use that.
If [Artist] and [Album Artist] differ, there's usually a very good reason for it.

I use another program for my primary HTPC interface that uses the Artist tag as a the main tag for Artist. Since Media Center is driven primary by the Album Artist tag I have been going thru and saving my custom views and use Artist as my primary Artist tag now too as well instead of Album Artist. But sometimes I forget after a reload to swap out my views and it's only until later I notice that my tagging doesn't match with what I know I had tagged, that I remember that I hadn't switched out my views. I was just hoping that someone might have a clever way of syncing the two automatically. I will just continue to manually use the Library Tools, Move/Copy Fields. Was trying to avoid using this as I use it on all my files at once so I don't have to hunt and peck for which files have incorrect tags, so all my audio files get flagged as changed and my backup queue get blown up. I see.
MC primarly uses Album Artist (auto) in views, sorting rules, etc. In various places in the UI, you see "Artist", but that often means Album Artist (auto), the calculated field defined:
