Title: What cheap(ish) 24 / 192khz-capable PCI-e sound card?
Post by: jdubs on May 11, 2014, 03:27:32 pm
Guys

Looking for recommendations on a sound card.  My system is Windows 7 based and I need something that is capable of processing 24/192khz material, has no problems with sampling rate switching, and is cheap(ish)...like <$100 if possible.  Oh and pci-e that works with ASIO or Wasapi.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Jim

A Creative Labs card would be a good choice.

Thanks Matt!  The Creative Audigy RX looks like a solid contender:

The new ASUS Xonar Essence STX II is another good choice. I have the ST-version (with H6-expansion card) and it sounds just as good as the new (old) Onkyo 876 receiver I just bought.

Best regards,
Mikkel

I hear the STXII has a better TCXO clock. Do you know if the STX II will work with the older H6-expansion card that was paired with the ST?

My *guess* is that the expansion card is exactly the same and that it would work with the new STX II-card - they look identical and the specs are the same. But I cannot say that I know for sure.

Try it. If it does not work return the card to the seller :).
