Title: Start up issue
Post by: the.mains.man on May 13, 2014, 10:15:58 am
Hi all
I wanted to start jriver automatically when my server boots up in windows 8, I put the programme shortcut into the windows 8 start up folder
and it did load up ok, trouble is now files are intermittent and won't play properly. I have messed up as I tried system restore and still not working.

Every time I open jriver and click on a track it won't play or does but stutters badly. I removed the shortcut from the start up folder but still no good.

Help!

Reboot and reinstall.

If it's just a server, investigate "Media Server" on our wiki.

system restore

Good luck with that. I think you've got bigger fish to fry than MC.

Do not put MC in your Windows startup folder.
Instead look at MC menu Tools ¦ Options ¦ Startup ¦ Windows Startup ¦ Run on Windows Startup ...

Normally a startup option would not be a cause of stuttering. However it could be that if you have MC both in your Windows startup folder and also in "Run on Windows Startup" then it is trying to start two instances of the MC program in parallel...

Thanks, I removed the programme from the start up folder but still have the problem, you are maybe right 2 of the same programme trying to run at once, when I look in task manager I see MC is already running under my user tab so somehow its auto launching in the background but I cannot access the programme using task manager so I have to re-open it from the desktop hence maybe 2 running at once.

In MC menu Tools ¦ Options ¦ Startup ¦ Windows Startup ¦ Run on Windows Startup make sure that you have either "Run Media Center" or "Run Media Center and Media Server" checked i.e. not just "Run Media Server"...

If you had two MC instances try to stream through the same kernel I guess that they would indeed block each other...
