Title: Pseudo-surround detection
Post by: 6233638 on May 14, 2014, 02:32:00 pm
3. NEW: Added an option to disable pseudo-surround detection in Output Format DSP.
Could you explain what this option does?

From the description, I'm guessing that it's to detect whether a video that has a "5.1" track only contains information in the left/right channels, with the others left empty, and to treat that as a 2.0 track.

Here's what Hendrik said when it was first announced:

It does exactly that, it detects if a 5.1 or 7.1 surround signal only contains stereo audio, and then enables mixing.
Note that this is no new feature, it was just always on before.

The reason for the option is that I've encountered a few false-positive detections recently, so I've increased the detection threshold, and for testing purposes added an option - much easier to test this way if it works properly.
