Title: Simultaneous output via HDMI and USB

I use a Mac mini with JRiver. I would like to send the audio signal simultaneously via HDMI to my AV-Reciever and via USB to my DAC AMRDP777.  In OS X Audio midi setup I created a new device that puts out to HDMI and USB. In JRiver tools-options-audio device I can now choose between HDMI, USB or the new device: HDMI+USB. HDMI works, USB works, but when choosing the combined audio output to HDMI and USB there is no sound although JRiver is playing.
Any hint how I could manage the simultaneous output?

You can setup two zones in MC, one for HDMI and one for USB, and then use the Linked Zones feature, which will output the same audio over both devices simultaneously without requiring this combined device which doesn't want to function.
