Title: Issues with UPnP mode with Resolution Audio Cantata
Post by: BigHiker on May 18, 2014, 09:42:16 am
Dear all,

So, my first post to this forum. I'm using JRiver MC19 on a Mac, connected to a Resolution Audio Cantata.
In USB mode, everything works fine.

When using UPnP, after starting a track in a playlist, the following happens almost all the time:
- after the first track, the Cantata starts playing the next song, but the MC19 UI still shows the old song.
- or, also happens very often: the same track is repeated all the time.

Not sure yet, but the above happens especially on larger playlists (e.g. >500 tracks)
On smaller lists, e.g. 20 tracks, the problem does not seem to occur that often.

What I'm not sure of: would this be a MC19 or Cantata UPnP implementation issue?
Special settings that I am not aware of?

I'm using the latest MC19 and Cantata firmware.

Best regards,
Gerard

Hi Gerard,

I also have a RA Cantata, running MC19 with a w8.1 pc  ;D

Just switched from a usb configuration to using upnp and I'm experiencing exactly the same issues as in your setup.

However, not limited to using playlists.  Playing 1 cd all tracks are duplicated and only when a repeated track is played MC updates the currently playing....

Kind Regards,
Stef

Hi Stef,

Thanks for your reply. You're right, MC is only updated when the repeated track is played.
Let's hope someone finds a solution...

Best regards,
Gerard

Hi Gerard,

I gave a couple of things a try yesterday.  Once the Cantata shows up as a renderer in the playing zones, right click on it in JRiver and disable either one or both options in the dnla controller options (all down the drop down list).  I did that and so far its working great with no duplicate tracks (and JRemote is in sync...tracks are played respecting playlist...takes about 15sec for the corresponding cover to show up as well in JRemote on the ipad).

Stef

Hi Stef,

I assume you mean following DLNA options:
- "Ignore Transport Events (use polling mode)"
- "Disable SetNext Support (for broken renderers)"

In my setup, both menu options were disabled (no checkmark in front of them). When I enabled them, (so they now both have a checkmark) my problems seem to be fixed also! I also have the delay of 15 secs, but I can live with that for now  :)

Thanks a lot for your help!

Best regards,
Gerard

Great, Gerard.

Yes, indeed what I meant (wrote it on the fly without JRiver fired up).

Happy that it also worked out for you  :)

Stef

You probably only have to disable this one :"Disable SetNext Support (for broken renderers)"
Polling mode will slow down the responsiveness of the system.

Thank you, Bob.  Going to give it a go  :)

And confirmed, definitely faster  :)
