Title: Gizmo is not playing MKV
Post by: yupiyayeh on May 20, 2014, 12:31:45 am
Hi

Unfortunately I can not stream mkv videos with gizmo no meter of the encoded video format. Gizmo still says "Only mp4 format is supported". But streaming of non MKV files works. Is there any possibility to enable this. I saw a setting for transcoding streamed videos but this seems not to work for Gizmo.

I'm using Gizmo on Android and iOS and jriver 18 and 19.

When I select an MKV file on Gizmo to play, it streams fine.  Did this start happening recently?  Is there any more information you can give?

Greetings:
Mkv streams fine here. It did fine with Samsung Galaxy note (first Generation) and just upgraded to Note 3, and S5. Both are able to stream Mkv.

We had luck streaming Ben Hur with no issues.

Thanks.

Thanks for your replies.

In the meantime I've upgrade my PC to Windows 8.1 as I own an upgrade license but I was running still Windows 7 as I had no problems so far.
Now I am also able to stream MKV video to Android (Samsung Note and S4) but my Ipad mini (iOS 7) still doesn't accept MKV.

But testing MC on Windows 8.1 I've found another issue which is very bad. Now I'm not able to watching a video on the TV (playing by MC) and surfing the internet on the monitor. Everytime I minimize MC the video stops and MC crashes.

Now I have rolled back my Windows 7. I can just say - never change a running system!

So end of the story MKV streaming on Android works but iOS doesn't.

There is currently no Gizmo for iOS. Are you using WebGizmo? JRemote?

Sorry. Yes of course on iOS I'm using JRemote 3.0

(I think this topic fits now better in the iPad section isn't it)

I may be wrong, but I believe that only mp4 format is supported by JRemote natively, which might be an iOS limitation, in fact.

Ah, the actual message is that JRemote only plays videos encoded in MPEG-4 format.
