Trying to convert flac to mp3 but it fails. Tried VBR and CBR, tried different options no luck. What am I doing wrong?
-
Hi there. What happens when it fails? Any error messages, or anything to help us understand what went wrong?
-
Right click, library tools, convert format, choose MP3 encoder, tried VBR, CBR encoding.
In the file conversion window the qued file status changes from "in queue" to "failed" when I click "convert". The file type stays flac.
-
Take a look at the values in Tools > Options > File Location > Audio. Is the base, folder rule and filename rule correct and leading to a good location where you can write files?
-
Folder rule: artist\ album
File rule: artist\ album/ track name
Location: C:\ users\ name\ music , and at the "conversion options" I tried the same directory as the source, and a different target directory as well.

Ok, assuming that forward slash, missing brackets around field names, and extra spaces are typos, maybe Anti-virus software is interfering. Perhaps try disabling it while you retry.
-
Disabling the anti virus soft ware did not help. I tried to convert one song into ALAC and it worked so the problem probably with the mp3 conversion only.
-
Interesting. You are using MC's stock MP3 converter, and not a custom one I presume?
-
They aren't 5.1 flacs by any chance are they? I was getting errors converting MKVs with 5.1 sound to mp3 until I down-mixed to 2 channel in the conversion options.
EDIT: Here's the post that helped me solve my problem http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=88677.msg608362#msg608362

I don't know for sure, but a Log may include more useful error output.

No they aren't 5.1 flacs for sure. They 2 channel stereo music files. Thanks.
Re MrC: yes the stock MP3 converter.
