Title: Home Theater Open House on June 28 featuring JRiver Media Center
Post by: mojave on May 27, 2014, 04:25:13 pm
I've been helping a friend with his home theater. He recently finished it and is having an Open House on June 28 in Des Moines, IA. If you would like to attend, please PM me. The theater is about 245 miles from JRiver headquarters. It would be great if someone from JRiver could attend. Jeff with JTR Speakers and Chris with Seymour AV will be present attending.

Features of the theater:

Is that sauce of yours bottled for the export market?

I'd be keen but it's a bit too far to travel.

Sounds like a good photo opp. Looking forward to the post event report..  ;)

JRiver will not need to send anyone - they will hear it without problems from where they are!

I'm going back to the theater on June 6-7. We plan to do the following:

I still need to figure out madVR Profile Groups since I haven't used any before. I tried to setup automatic switching to Arcsoft using jmone's script (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=81259.0), but didn't get it to work. I didn't have much time to troubleshoot. We actually haven't even gotten 3D to play yet. Anything special required for the Nvidia drivers?

Any suggestions that will add some bling for the Open House like custom Views, Theater View skins, etc.?

There will be two additional zones upstairs for listening during the Open House. These will be controlled with Gizmo/JRemote.

His script references mc18.exe which won't work on mc19 without modification.

Nathan, if you see this, a better way is to use MCWS and point at localhost.  That doesn't change from version to version.  See my Library Switch script for examples (in MCUtilities).

creating madVR Profile Groups if necessary
this is v straightforward if all you're doing is switching between bd and dvd quality sources. It looks like it gets much more involved if have a wide variety of content & the UI is not the friendliest as there is no obvious way, that I have found, to verify that file X will hit profile Y except for playing them back one by one.

As an example, my profile is just

if (srcHeight < 577) and (deintFps < 31) "SD 24fps"
elseif (srcHeight < 577) "SD"
elseif (deintFps < 26) "1080p24"
else "1080p60"

My approach was to pick out a file of each type that I (seem to) have (means 1080p, 1080i, 576p, 576i) along with a few variants for the SD stuff (animation, tv etc). I then walked through them cranking up settings until it reported dropped frames in the madvr stats, I would then back off a setting here or there to see what bought it back into line. In total, this took <1hr... mainly because I could barely see any difference between most of the settings, I'm obviously not a pixel peeper :) If you are short of time then I would concentrate on the 3D LUT.
