Title: Problem Burning CDs
Post by: TopDownDriver on May 28, 2014, 11:45:13 am
Trying to burn an Audio CD.

I click on "Burn Disc" in the Action Window and follow the prompts.
I drag the files into the Window (WMA Lossless).
When I click "Burn" it writes the Lead in and Lead out, but no data to the disc.

I've created a coaster.

What am I doing wrong??

Thanks

Personally, I can't recall when I last burnt a CD or a DVD for that matter but if I was going to, I'd look here:
Create (Burn) CDs or DVDs (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Create_%28Burn%29_CDs_or_DVDs)
and probably, here:
CD and DVD Burning Settings (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/CD_and_DVD_Burning_Settings)

The Wiki has all sorts of good stuff. Hopefully this is a start in the right direction.

Spent some time diagnosing this.

Currently, MP3 files will burn to a CD perfectly.

However, files in WMA Lossless in the database will not.  Have had spotty results with other formats as well.

It seems that for some reason on some file formats the encoder is not converting the Lossless formats to WAV, ergo it can only write the Lead In and Lead Out as it has no data to put in between.

Can someone else confirm this with the latest build on their system.  I have tried it with different drives, but only on the one system.

Thanks

I can't reproduce this.  I was able to burn a lossless WMA file to a disk and play it back.  Any more info?  Perhaps you could send one of the problem files?

Don't think it is the files, as they play perfectly.  Could it be something in my setup?  I am on Windows 8.1 and wondering if there is a decoder issue in the CD Burner app.

I tested it too.  No issues burning a variety of different WMA files.  I tried both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.

Are you sure the WMA files aren't encrypted with DRM of some kind?

It could also be an Anti-Virus application blocking MC's access to its own temp storage space (or increasing latency such that it gets confused).  What AV application are you using?
