Title: DSD on Mac?
Post by: stermarc on June 01, 2014, 11:58:27 am
I have a Denon DA-300USB. Whenever I played a DSD file on it, the DAC unit always displayed 96k.

The retailer suggested I change the JRiver setting to DSD over PCM.

Now the DAC displays Everything as DSD, whether it's 96k, 192k or DSD (but not 44/CD files).

I can't figure out what this means, or what quality I'm even getting out of JRiver.

What am I hearing???

Hi you are getting DSD in a format that is called DoP or DSD over PCM the reason everything is playing as DoP is probably because you selected the option under output encoding in the DSP studio  to output output all formats as DSD. If this is not what you wanted to do instead return output encoding to none exit DSP studio and go to audio settings then select bitstreaming then check DSD this will enable DoP as only DoP is available on OS X for DSD playback.
