Trying to register my license using the permanent code and getting an error "There was a problem communicating with the license server."
Yay for ratings!
-
Firewall?
-
No firewall issues. MC18 for Windows works fine in a VM on this same system as does everything else.
Media Server also seems to work fine. It's just the registration.

Just tried it here and it worked fine.
Check to make sure you don't have a space at the beginning or the end?
If it still doesn't work, PM me your details and I'll try to reproduce it with your code.
Thanks..

PM sent.
-
On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit the registration went smoothly. But what do I have to do exactly with the mjr file sent by email?
-
The mjr file can be used to register MC if the automated process failed, or to register other installs on other systems in your house.
If everything worked out automatically, you can disregard it.
-
I have the same problem as RemyJ, "failed to communicate with license server", when I enter my reg code.
I also have my original .mjr file (useless now?).
-
If I want to use the mjr file, it doesn't seem to work opening it with Media Center application. Do I need to open it with another executable?
It did pop up the license box, but it didn't use the registration file.
-
And, using the registration code I get a popup that the license is not found.
-
The .mjr is only good for 10 days after it's generated.
You can always get a new .mjr using your registration code from our online license restore page.
I would think you could install it from a command line like this:
mediacenter19 yourlicense.mjr (but I just tested and that doesn't seem functional)
I'm guessing that everyone having trouble with the is NOT using debian. Can we confirm this?
-
I'm on Arch, so yes, not using Debian.
My mjr file is new.
-
A wild guess is that MC can't do secure ssl on non-debian platforms because it's looking for the certs, etc in the debian places.
You could try playing with this via symlinks.
The debian stuff is mainly in /etc/ssl
/etc/ssl/certs
/etc/ssl/private
The command line install of the mjr will get implemented.
-
As far as I can tell my certs are in /etc/ssl/certs too. whole bunch of symlinks in there to /usr/share/ca-certificates/.... .
/etc/ssl/private exists but its empty (which I think its to be expected).
-
For me it was the SSL certs not being in the right place.
For debian, /etc/ssl/certs contains individual certs in pem format with links to them with the subject hash as the name.
Arch, Mint and Suse seem to have the same layout but Fedora (of course) has a different layout. Once I got the certs in place, I was able to register.
-
Another thing to watch is for leading and trailing spaces or other characters when one puts the code into the registration box.
I did that once and got an error.
-
Yeah, that did it here on openSUSE.
I set up a link in /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt => /var/lib/ca-certificates/ca-bundle.pem

Successful install on Debian Jessie (Alpha 1 Installer)
License key was accepted.
However, I was not able to copy paste into the license window. It registered the Ctrl-V as 'v'.
+1 YAY! for ratings!!!
-
For enabling the copy paste search the forum for autocutsel
-
Probably a dumb question, but I did license this release.
My question: once licensed, will I need to re-license for newer releases of MC19?
Thanks,
tlcmd
-
No, you're good for all versions of MC19.

v138 Saving tag changes on ratings
I rated a track while it was playing earier today. The message displayed in the bottom of the screen saying "Saving tag changes (1 remaining)".
I just noticed an hour later and 20 songs later that the message remains. I have now stopped playback and the message remains.
Looking in the playlist, the rating I assigned is showing properly, however, when I open the MP3 file in Rhythmbox, the rating is not set.
So, it appears to me that MediaCenter is not updating the MP3.

Is the file writeable by your user?
Do you have the options set so that the changes are written back to the file tags?
-
Re: tag changes
It was a file permission issue. After I changed file permissions all is well. Perhaps an error message would be helpful.
Thanks!
-
PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW TO INSTALL THE LICENCE KEY OR MJR FILE.

ubuntu 14.04

v138 Debian Wheezy, Gnome 3
I'm sure this is on the to-do list, but the tool tips pop-ups are really getting me down.
The tip pops up over the album title I'm trying to select and preventing me from selecting it unless I carefully click on the icon.
I see that this only occurs on titles that are wider than cannot be fully displayed due to the column width. Is there some way to control this behavior?

No, however in the next build (later today) they will be removed completely.
