I recorded some shows on MC19 Server, and it plays fine on that, but won't play on client. Red October Standard is what I'm using on both. It will play in Windows Media Player. Any ideas? It appears that most, or all of my recorded TV won't play. but mp4 h264 stuff will.
-
What did you record it with? With MC19? Or with Windows Media Player?
-
What build of MC are you using?
-
Mc19
-
19.0.?
19.0.145 is available here:

More info required.
Inside MC, go to:
Help > About
The top of the dialogue box will say:
Media Center 19.0.xxx
What's xxx?
-
Oops... sorry. ..it was .143 on both. Tried .145 on client also.
-
TS format?
-
Yes. Mpeg2 compression.
-
Both are now on 19.145, and I uninstalled anything that was not needed (XBMC, etc). Still not working.
-
If you copy a recording to the client machine and play it locally there, will it work?
-
I'll try and find out.
-
yes. I switched to the 'main library', copied the file over the network to a local hard drive on the client machine, and imported it. It played fine.
I thought it might indicate a network problem, but I am able to play back live TV just fine, and the file transferred at 107 MB/s, so it's certainly not a speed issue.

Where is your MC temp program file located? The default is C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 19\Temp\.
Is that drive out of space?
-
It's at the default location, and there is about 55GB free (out of 120GB).
I just tried it on another PC, with the same results.
-
That is just very strange. I tried it myself and it works just fine.
-
All I get is a 'still image' from the video. I do get audio, just no video.
-
I should also say, that on some I get the 'still image', and on other's shows I get the JRiver Logo.
-
here is another thing I see...if I try to jump forward, first, it won't, second, it says 'Live' at the end of the green timeline bar. I don't see this on videos that actually play (ones I have compressed using handbrake).
-
It's also showing it as ~380 Kbps when I move the mouse up to the top of the player window. It's almost like it thinks it's an audio file only.
-
I found a few problem recordings. We will investigate. Thanks for bringing the problem to our attention.
-
no problem, let me know if I can be of further assistance.
-
any updates?
-
I think Yaobing checked in a fix. I'll let him describe, if it's true.
-
Excellent (if true)!!
Will the fix allow me to watch previously recorded TV, or will it just fix the issue going forward?
-
Yes, the fix was checked in today. It will be in an upcoming build in a few days.
Yes, your old recordings should work if they currently play locally. The fix is about letting the splitter filter take a longer time (not time-out too soon) to figure out the streams in a TS file over the network.
-
Just wanted to come back and say that build 149 fixed this issue for me...thanks again!
-
You are welcome. Thanks for reporting back.
