Title: DSD playback
Post by: VR6 on July 01, 2014, 02:40:00 pm
Hi,

I have a PS Audio Directstream DAC and it plays DSD. I am using the JRiver 19 for MAC and have my music on a mac mini. In order to play DSD files do I have to change the setting in the playback options to DoP or is there another way? It would be great if I only had one setting to make and then I could play hi-res PCM or DSD without making any changes. Right now if I want to play DSD files I have to change it to DoP playback. Is there something I am not doing or a better way? I do not have it set to bitstream.

You want to set bitstreaming in Options > Audio to DSD (if you want native DSD delivered to your DAC instead of PCM).

Thanks I will do that. Do I need to set playback to DoP also?

No.  That's something different -- realtime conversion to DSD from PCM.

Thank you. This is very helpful. If I set it to bitstream will the PCM files I have play normally or do I have to take off the bitstream to play them?
