I have created a view under 'Shows' in Theater View called recorded TV. It filters out any .jtv files (I record in .ts) so that no client live tv files show up, and I limit it to the recorded TV folder. Basically, it is the exact same view as 'Series', without the Season level, and with the above filters.
Currently I have the Sorting set to 'Date Imported', which works mostly. I would prefer to have it sort by 'Date Recorded', but that doesn't appear to be an option in the drop down.
Is there a way to do that? It all works fine, except, I had to re-import the folder due to a motherboard failure, and now all the content is in a random order since it was all imported on the same day.
Here is a screen shot of how I have it set up.

We put the date recorded in the Date field.

that get's me close...is there any way to get a time stamp as well (time of day), so that if I have 2 items recorded on the same day, they still show in order of recording?
At least on mine, Date Recorded shows something like '7/7/2014 9:00 pm', but Date only shows '7/7/2014'.

The 'Date Recorded' shows the time. The date field might not.

So back to the original question, I guess...is it possible (possibly in the expression??) to sort by Date Recorded?
-
Yes. You can sort by 'Date Recorded'. Are you asking how to do that?
-
yes. How would I accomplish that.
-
I'll put Date Recorded into the sort selection for the next build.
Build log:
Changed: Added 'Date Recorded' as a sorting preset for Category views.

Awesome, thanks!

So I was just testing the new Date Recorded field that was added (thank you), but it doesn't seem to work.
If I sort by date imported, then Falling Skies is the first Series in the list in the top level view, which is correct, as it recorded last night, and it was the latest program recorded. If I sort by Date Recorded, it is not, there are 5 or 6 series listed in front of it.

Look at the date recorded for the other series. Maybe there's something unexpected.

I have attached images...
If you need any other screen shots, let me know...hopefully the names of the files are self explanatory on what you are seeing.
I might be over 700 KB...if so, I will attach the last image to another post.

It seems like it's sorting correctly. Is there something I'm missing?
-
Shouldn't Falling Skies be first, since it was the last thing recorded? Why would So You Think You Can Dance be second, when it was recorded almost a week ago?
The Date Imported screen shot is the way I think it should be displayed, but the Date recorded seems to be wrong to me, unless I'm missing something.
Falling Skies shows that it was recorded 7-27-2014 at 10:01 PM, so why would Sister Wives (7-27-2014 @ 9PM) and SYTYCD (7-23-2014 @8PM) show up prior to it in the list. It doesn't appear to be backwards either...otherwise Continuum (6-20-2014 @10PM) should be first...

I received an email notification that there was a new reply to this, but I don't see anything...just thought I should check in.

Next build of MC20 will have this:
Changed: When grouping by date recorded, the maximum value will be used instead of an average value.
I'm not sure, but it might make a difference. MC20 will appear in a few weeks.
