Title: Fragile Thumbnails For Offline Files
Post by: marko on July 12, 2014, 02:43:00 am
I have backups of our photos on DVD media. Currently seven discs worth.

I love that I can feed these discs in, let MC build thumbs for them, then stash them away safely and still see the thumbnails for them.

That is, until the thumbnail cache gets hosed.

Would be great if thumbs for files where [Removable]=1 could be ringfenced in some way?
I need to go find those discs and rebuild the thumbs for them again...

What causes the thumbnail cache to get "hosed"?  It sounds like a bug, but I can't reproduce it.

I don't suppose you have Tools → Options → Tree & View → Thumbnails → Thumbnail exit behavior set to "Erase orphans"?

I wonder if that might do it.

I've experienced this behavior a few times over the years with various versions of MC.

Not sure what causes this.

Are the thumbnails backed up by MC?
