Title: HDMI from laptop to AVR. Is the sound card being used?

Hi,

When using JRiver from laptop, I connect my laptop to my AVR using HDMI (PCM going to AVR). Am I using my laptop sound card at all? Should I care about ASIO and WASAPI as far as the sound card is concerned?

The HDMI output is a soundcard of its own, the other soundcard that drives the built in speakers and the analog out is not used anymore.
