Title: Did it again - upgraded my MC Mac license …
Post by: Fred1 on August 04, 2014, 01:24:42 am
… to MC 20 for Mac.

But maybe the last time for long, because there is so little movement in the MC Mac development.
Probably there is not enough manpower to achieve a fast progress (and there is the Linux version, too).
Resources for the Mac development seem to be very small in my eyes, even bugfixes take forever.

All in all, i'm glad to have MC on Mac, but i'm disappointed with the speed and scope of updates.
Even if the version numbers correspond to those of the Windows version, the items that are added and the time it takes between the updates don't relate at all.

I hope however, there will be improvements in the near future.

I don't believe it's because of lack of manpower, actually. Nor do I believe the development to be 'small' either. Probably has to do with the fact getting features like video and CD ripping requires developing their own code versus using what's available to them in Windows (DirectShow, for example).

I'm guessing a lot of time used for development for the Mac and Linux versions goes towards the framework that powers the features we've yet to see. It's not easy, that's for sure.
