Title: WVC1 file won't play?
Post by: Glimmie on August 09, 2014, 10:58:18 pm
I am trying to play a BluRay rip that is a WVC1 file type. It's the "Digital Video Essentials" disk which should be very popular here.

What's up?

Please take a look at the Blu-ray topic on our wiki.

I searched the Wiki as well as your forum thread. I find nothing about the lack of ability to play WVC1 files. I'm running MC19, Win7-32, Nvidia FX3800, i7, 4GBram. All other BluRays and .TS files play fine. The WVC1 bluray was ripped by AnyDVD, same as with all my BluRays.

Seems I am missing a DirectShow filter???

In googling this problem I see VLC Media Player has the same issue. And there are pages saying Win7 does not include this CODEC by default.

What is JRiver's advice to solve this? I just don't want to start blindly loading 3rd party CODECS.

Could you provide a sample WVC1 file?  I'm matt at jriver dot com.  Thanks.

Since your graphics card sounds really old I would recommend to disable hardware accelerated decoding in the video options
But otherwise Blu-ray WVC1 should work just fine.

Yes a lot of people tell my that about my graphics card. But remember the Nvidia Quadro line is the professional line, not the gaming grade GFX cards. Still the new consumer gaming cards have more horsepower, but these old pro cards are still very good. And mine has the SDI option card with it which I need in my HT.

I didn't get a sample yet.  Could you provide one?  Thanks.
