Title: JRiver / Bluray player image diferences
Post by: jorsan on August 10, 2014, 05:42:01 am
Hi,
I have been noticing that when I play movies from JRiver they are darker and has more contrast that the same movie played thru my bluray player. Not enough dark to consider that is pc/tv levels related.  My setting within JRiver is Red October HQ with the pc-levels (0-255) setting. My processor is an intel i3 with HD4400 graphics inside the cpu. Within the intel software that control graphics is impossible to set the limited/full option (same as pc/tv levels), so I assume is using limited. I proyect the image in a JVC X-35 projector. comments will be apreciated. thanks

ROHQ should bypass all the driver-based image processing for video playback to ensure that playback is the highest quality possible.

I don't know about Intel, but my Nvidia card automatically applies dynamic contrast and color "enhancements" by default, which are bypassed when using ROHQ - that's one thing which could cause it to look different than other players.
