Title: Best Squeezebox Touch Whitebear setup?
Post by: philosurfer on August 25, 2014, 02:49:28 pm
Hi. I was running MC 18 and just upgraded today to 19.  My setup: NAS music files, ethernet to Squeezebox Touch via Whitebear, then to a Meridian digital system.  I hadn't touched the setup since originally getting it to work in MC 18.  When I upgraded to 19 I noticed about half the volume level, so I started looking further. I noticed that the zone was marked as a media server and that the "generic DLNA" server was set to low bandwidth MP3 (I don't know if this is a default for 19). In playing around, I realized the most I could get was a high-bandwidth MP3 - so my question is if there's a way to get more out of this setup. I've got limits on what extra equipment I can invest in, right now (something better's in the works for next year), but since I'm new at configuration I thought that maybe I'm simply missing some setup guidance. I searched the forum for configuration info on Squeezebox Touch but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you can give.

Concerning the format: if your original files are MP3, Flac or Wav, then set MC server audio settings to "never convert", otherwise set MC audio to always convert to L16 no header.

Concerning the volume: check MC server audio settings advanced and make sure volume leveling is turned off.
