Title: Can't Do Conversion From Client
Post by: rec head on August 29, 2014, 11:32:11 am
I am trying to convert files from from a client computer. I can access and update changes to the main networked library. Is there a setting I'm missing or is it not possible? Ultimately I'd like my wife to be able to make a playlist in MC on her Mac. Then convert it to mp3 to a folder that itunes on her Mac will be using. Then only the tracks she wants will get converted and we aren't duplicating the whole library.

Both PC's are v20 and the Mac is v19

This is by design - I believe. "Clients" do have a few restrictions.

I would like some kind of "import" function on the client to copy selected files/playlist to the local library, optionally using convert format function, been asking this for some time

There are ways to accomplish this.  You will have the best performance if you do the conversion and sync on the copy of MC running as the server.

But the Handheld sync functions all work fine (quite well, actually) with a folder destination.  That folder can be a network drive, if you want.  So you can set it up to sync to a folder you've shared on the Mac, and it can do all the conversion things.

I tried setting that up but don't think I did it properly. I tried searching the wiki for help. Can you give step by step or point me to a resource.
