Title: Volume question for USB stick

I have been using this since at least before 2004.. I have saved my CD's using this to convert them to mp3's..  Now I want to move them to a USB stick and play them in my car..  The sound volume varies from album to album and even some from song to song.

So maybe someone can give me a way to fix this, or even better help me use the right words to ask for help.

u would need to make copies of the files u want to play in your car and then find a program to "Normalize" them. to normalize a mp3 I'm pretty sure it makes changes to the actual file, thus making the copy of the file(s) to normalize. If u still have a pc with Windows Media Player I believe it will normalize if I remember correctly...there may be another way...so lets wait to see other options u may get.

MC does this (very well) with replay gain / volume levelling.

You can rip to mp3 and save replay gain settings...I do this all the time for my iPod and car USB, then all tracks are very close in volume.

This is enabled through the DSP menu, and when converting to mp3 just check the box to enable the DSP during conversion

Does this mean I need to rip the CD's again to use Media Center???

No, you will end up with tracks differing in volume again :)

Select the tracks in JRiver > Tools > Library Tool > Analyze audio

For anything new you are going to import in the future
Tools > Import > Configure Auto Import > Analyze audio

Check if your car supports Replay Gain :)
