Title: Exporting Movie List - Special Characters
Post by: globetrotters1 on September 09, 2014, 02:27:28 pm
Hello everyone,

when I export a list of movies to a CSV file (to import it into an Excel table), everything works fine, just all special characters (like the french é à è and the german ä ö ü show up as strange unreadable characters.

Who knows how to convince MC to export them in the right format?

Tried to solve this problem with Wiki, but didn't find anything

Thanks for a bit of help!

Just a guess here...but I believe a csv file is just a text based file structure, so there is no font info stored in the csv file itself...try changing the font in excel to see if they display properly.

I just tried it myself (I' m french ...).

With MC 19 I do not have this issue. I exported the list and opened it with LibreOffice Calc.
All seems to work properly with accent ...

Be aware, the coding is UTF-8, not ANSI.
Maybe the importer in Excel set to ANSI ?  ;D

thanks, fredele, the UTF-8 import hint inside Excel did the trick!
