19. Fixed: Crashing when dragging tracks to playlists, handhelds, etc.
20. Fixed: Tracks could not be dragged onto the handheld action window's "drop here" icon area.

These problems were such stinkers.  Good work John for getting to the bottom of them.

I guess I can stop constantly mashing F5 now.  At least until 3:01am tonight, anyway.

There's still glitches (errr, whiteouts for a quick moment) when scrolling through panes (audio > panes for artists and albums, that is). I'm scrolling down and back up through a list of 1000 artists at a pretty good speed. You'll probably need to scroll down and up a few times before noticing it.

But yes, great work! Can't wait to try CD ripping! :D

Good Afternoon, John. I may owe you folks an apology for sending a premature statement about no ripping function available in this build. I am using an iMac with an external apple CD drive and when clicking on the ripping button in MC 20 for Mac I received an error message saying that ripping was unavailable. However, I suspect the reason for that is I have yet to point the new version to where the files will be stored on an external Thunderbolt drive. If this is the case, please accept my apology. As my son says "me bad".

Lastly, I just wanted to say I had no trouble installing my license.

Regards, Richard

Some stupid questions. Without looking at the rip process, is this accomplished in any way inside the Apple operator ? I suppose all formats are available. Does it register the files in ITunes as in back compatible, in other words, does it work in reverse ?

Auto-Import remains enabled (and retains settings from a Local Library, rather than being independent) when connecting to a remote Library Server.

On my copy, when I connected to my main Media Library (20.0.14 running on Windows), it imported my entire collection again after a few minutes, using the OSX paths to the media files, because I have my regular "Local Library" configured to scan those locations.

It shouldn't be enabled for remote Libraries.
And it should be independent for separate local Libraries.

Hi JRiver team

I just bought a MacBook Pro and base on past good experience(SQ) with your JRiver windows, so with Mac I still choose JRiver as my default player.

But again, cue+single wav can not be well imported, so some albums can only see a single complete wav in the playlist, but some albums works fine.
I always use EAC to rip my CDs(Inlcluding below two album) and have never meet this problem with Foobar2000(Windows) or samplitude(windows) or even Audirvana(Mac).

Can you fix this issue? It's really a trouble to me if I can not rip CDs or keep using with cue+Wav. If no issues in other software, I believe JRiver should work well also.

Also please can you solve the problem that Chinese file name shows garbled, same as above, they are should be basic function as JRiver is not a free software......

Thanks~

NG imported(cue+wav by EAC, no issue in other software)

Please note that we've been able to reproduce issues with the trial expiring prematurely, and trouble registering MC20 in some cases:

Can you post a link to download an example of one of the ones that is broken?  The cue+wav entirely would be ideal if possible.  You might be able to make a link to download it using Dropbox or Google Drive or WikiSend or something.  Might still be too big though, so if nothing else, the cue file.

Some bugs in Mac ripping -- have had the first track of a couple of CDs be ripped to defective files (both generated tagging warnings, and one wouldn't play at all)... Have had a system crash while ripping... also sometimes takes a couple of tries to get MC20 to recognize a new CD when I change disks to rip.

I bought MC20 more than one month ago, with pre-payment. I am glad to see it is avaiable now. But I can see it is still under development, maybe no so stable as MC 19 which really works excellent. My question is: how much time do I have to install MC20, Can I wait one-two more months with the installation untill MC20 will be as  reliable as MC19 is now?

As glynor pointed out...you can have both installed and use both as you wish.  Not at the same time obviously.

Looks like a fine upgrade so far. I still have to find out why I get the popup-message (when trying to rip an album) that there is no suitable drive in my MacBook Pro (end 2010), but I'll look into that when I have more time.

For now I concentrate on listening to music, and I was wondering if you have done anything to improve sound quality as well. Because if my ears are not deceiving me there is a small but noticeable increase in the already great SQ from MC19 to MC20...

Finally I have installed MC20. I restored my license and after my libraries.  Altogether was 5 mins. Easy. Now MC20 is in use. The first look likes than MC19. With all my settings. Great job, thanks for developers. I haven't tried the ripping, yet, but all other works perfectly!

---update on previous post---

Okay, ripping seems to have gone well! When there's no disc in my MacBook's superdrive, you'll get the pop-up saying that ripping is not possible.

Well, duh!   :o

When you put a disc in, it appears in the Action Window, and you'll be able to tweak it extensively before ripping it. Automated artwork look-up/adding seems to work fine as well, but I'll have to try some more obscure material to know how good the database really is. A drag&drop artwork field in the metadata editing screen would be a nice addition for a future update, but for now I'm a happy camper!

Please download and install manually.

I did...i installed the new version manually (even uninstalled 19 first) and then went to HELP > UPDATE CHANNELS > CHECK FOR UPDATE and that was where I got the error about checking for updates.  So it is an error in the new version (20.0.14) and not in 19 trying to go to 20...

I'm getting the same error in 20 when trying to update that way (help > update channels > check for update): "There was a problem checking for updates."

If I do the same thing in 19, I get: "Media Center is up to date (19.0.131)"

It's definitely something in 20.

Generally the version works fine in my System. However the ripping process in my system is regarding the ability to find the disc really unstable - though the mac detects the audio-cd (and is visible in Finder) and XLT also is able to read the disc without any problems. Usually I have to stop MC20 and need to restart several times before it finds the CD as well and can rip it.

System: Mac Mini - with OSX 10.9.5
External CD-Drive: Plextor PX-L890UE

Best regards
Joachim

Hello
I am using MC20 since last week.
Sometimes the music stops and there is no way I can restart it, it just does not play anymore (I mean the track does not start). It happens twice last week. Local play is still OK on the computer but nothing works for the DLNA (renderer)
Once I had to reboot the renderer and yesterday had to reboot my Mac.
I never had this issue with MC19 so this is linked to MC20 I would guess.
I cannot reproduce this issue systematically as I have no clue when and why it appears. Today I had absolutely no issue!

One more thing, the MC20 icon is in my toolbar as all other application but sometimes when playing MC20, another MC20 icon appears briefly on the right side of the toolbar and disappeared instantaneously but you still have time to notice... This is as if another application was starting and stopping right away!

Thanks for investigating those 2 issues and thanks in advance !

This surprised me.

I was playing both the usb and the ethernet players at the same time.

I was listening to the usb player but looking at the ether player screen and I adjusted it's volume slider.
The volume changed in the usb player, the one I was listening to but not 'controlling'.

Just an interesting observation.

If you had MC20 installed, check for updates wouldn't report any newer versions available.

The problem isn't that it isn't showing any new versions - it is that it is coming back with an error, which means it isn't even getting to the point of checking. Yes, i have the latest version - but what if there is a new version coming out tomorrow and I try to use the program to check - it won't find the new version update because of the error...so, for now it isn't an issue, but it will increasingly become one as new updates are released and it can't find/download those new updates...

It seems like it is something in the code for the update channel - like it isn't going to the correct one?

I had been having this same problem (see my post above), but today when I clicked "Check for updates" it worked. I did not get the error message, but got "Media Center is up to date (20.0.14)" Also, I have it set to "Stable" not "latest".

Just wanted to say this version is working great for me and I've had no issues.

I also wanted to say today is the first time I felt JRiver sounded better that Pure Music (v2.02) on my MAC Mini. I've been using JRiver on my Windows machines since version 17 and was very excited when it became available for MAC. The interface and media server options are superior to Pure Music (Channel D) and now the sound quality is at the point where I (almost) regret upgrading Pure Music. Great job guys!!!

Current system:
MAC Mini --> Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 --> Cary Audio SLP-30 Tube Pre-Amp --> Rotel RB-980BX Amp --> Polk Audio LSi9 Speakers
MIT S1 Interconnects and Nordost Red Dawn Speaker Cable
24-bit FLAC files (Classic Rock)
