I bought a new HP laptop with Win8 x64, Core i7. Great machine except for one thing so far . . . .
Approximately every 15 seconds whatever window I am working in loses focus for about 2 or 3 seconds, then returns. It is enough to drive me crazy especially when typing as it causes dropped letters.
I have disabled all startup items, tried disabling the touchpad, everything I can think of or find on the web searches I have done.
Has anyone had this problem? More importantly, have you found a solution?

Open Task Manager and watch the memory, disk, and CPU activity.
Antivirus?

Hi Jim, thanks for responding.
I disabled Kaspersky Internet Security along with all else I could but have not tried uninstalling it.
Out of desperation I did a system restore and at the moment seems to have worked, but this problem does not seem to be present after every reboot so I will need to give it some time to make sure that did the trick.
Seems there are a lot of people with a similar issue in both Win7 and Win8, but none have posted a definitive solution.
I tried watching Task Manager but was unable to catch the culprit.

Try an Internet search. It could be something like a bad network driver.
Try HP. They will probably recognize it if it's their problem.
