Title: Problem with VOB files....

I cannot play VOB files. I am getting the following message.

Something went wrong with playback
Details: Failed to open or parse file. (hr=0x80004005)



Same files play fine with VLC.....

That message is not very informative.
It could be a problem with the Audio side of the movie too. I've had that happen to me before. Check the Audio settings in MC. You may want to run the MediaInfo program and see what formats are in the video
Are you saying you can't play any VOB files (assuming you have more than one) or just one specific file won't play?
