Title: Dolby and DTS support
Post by: hifi25nl on September 18, 2014, 06:41:56 am
Is Dolby and DTS working with 20.0.16?
I was playing some video with the same configuration as windows version (same computer also) but A/V receiver is showing me only stereo.

Bitstreaming is not supported, if thats what you're referring to.
You can however decode it on the PC, and output it as 5.1 over HDMI to the receiver.

My configuration is:

Bitstreaming --> none
Output encoding --> Dolby digital (5.1)
Result: crash

Otherwise:
Bitstreaming --> none
Output encoding --> none
Result: only stereo

I am using an external USB transport that can pass Dolby and DTS to A/V receiver via spdif cable (as I said before, this configuration is working fine with Windows version of JRiver).
In Alsa configuration is selected iec958:

Encoding is probably also not supported yet.

Hopefully bitstreaming (including HD audio) will eventually be supported...
