Title: What is the new JRiver video engine???

I believe it is part of the latest release...is this replacing something, improving something, enabling new functionality, more efficient ... as i use JRiver extensively for video any info would be appreciated and a good overview would be really appreciated.

Hendrik wrote it.  It's mainly to add video to Linux and Mac.  You could read more on the Linux board.

It will probably also benefit the Windows version over time.
