I was playing the Blu-ray disc of Patton yesterday. I have PowerDVD, but I prefer a player that uses madVR. I cranked up AnyDVDHD and started out with MPC-HC (I like a couple of its pixel shaders), but I couldn't get it to display the forced subtitles for the German dialogue even when set to do so. Tried the latest Zoom Player, same problem. Only the MC player was able to display the forced subtitles correctly (PowerDVD also did, of course).
Congratulations to the MC team for getting it right. MC will now be my go-to player for Blu-ray discs.

Thanks. I wrote the subtitle engine myself a few years ago. It should be good to go.

I agree, it's nice that MC often manages to get this right when other players don't.
However, it would be nice to have some sort of indicator when forced subtitles are present or in use, rather than the subtitle selection saying that subtitles are "Off".
EDIT: Of course the very next film that I watch is one where I have to either force subtitles on completely, or do without them.

What about a pink, rather large overlay in the lower left corner stating subtitle status?
Bear with me, too much coffeeeee this morning, couldn't help it ;)
