Title: Poor TV recording performance
Post by: rec head on September 25, 2014, 11:42:07 am
MC missed a couple shows telling me that there were no tuners available when there was 4. I disabled everything and then got the HD Homerun working. That leaves me 2 tuners. Now when I record the video play back is very choppy. The sound formats seem to change at weird time too. It sounds like when a TV show goes to commercial and back and there are different formats but it happens during a show. I am using the JTV format. I have tried different recording different channels and 2 channels at a time vs. 1 and it is all poor. I am using OTA recording and basically have line of site to the towers.

My setup has not changed (except updating drivers) since using MC19 and everything recorded just fine.

I checked older recordings done in MC19 and they play just fine.

I did more testing. I uninstalled the drivers from Silicon Dust, downloaded the latest and installed them. Using the Silicon Dust Tuner TV looks great. In MC20 the motion is really choppy.

I have tried disabling and re-enabling the tuners from the TV options but can't find a way to remove them and re-add them.

I need some help here if I can't record TV I'm going to get in trouble. My wife was understanding this week and we caught the shows we missed online but that won't last.

Make sure your video is set to Red October Standard.

Did you play these in MC20 or MC19?

If you still have MC19 installed, can you try recording in MC19?

I didn't have much time to play around but here is what I did: I switched to RO standard and things seemed to work. So because I have always used ROHQ I switched back and things were still working. I programmed a couple simultaneous recordings and I'll check them when I get a chance.

Thanks for the help.

An update

Last night I chose a TV show without realizing that it was still recording. It played back in super slow motion and the sound was equally slow but with a high pitch sound too.

Shows that were already done recording played back fine.
