Is there a direct way to update tags using an expression? I couldn't find a way to do this directly and was wondering if, being new to MC, I had missed something.
I used DVD Audio Extractor to rip high res audio tracks from a DVD-Audio disc. That program populated the name tags and file names with a leading track number. So, the track 1 name tag is "01 Prologue." I don't like having track numbers in the name tag, so after importing into MC20, I wanted to remove the leading 3 characters from the name tag for each file.
I was able to find a workaround: I added a calculated library field with the expression removeleft([Name],3). Then used the Move/Copy Fields command to copy the calculated value to the Name field.
Is there a way to do this directly? If not, would this be a useful feature?
Thanks,

put = in front of the expression and put it in the tag field.

Hmmm. It seems the obvious didn't occur to me.
That worked - and was much faster than my workaround.
Thanks, Ken.

If you need to do this regularly, you can set up a Tag on Import rule (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=68462.10), so long as you rip to a specific directory.
