Title: Access List Of Items In Library Remotely (i.e. Via Phone)
Post by: Ducs_Of_Hazzard on October 01, 2014, 11:26:37 am
Hi There!

Just wondering if there is a way to acess a list of Movies, Songs, Etc. in my media library remotely (i.e. Through My Phone)?  The reason why I ask is I used another Media Library / Player that would send the list of items in your library to a cloud account periodically and then you could login to your cloud account via an app on your phone to see what items you have in your library.  I have to say I found this incredibly useful when I was at the store contemplating whether to buy a certain Movie or Audio CD.  I found on quite a few occasions that I had already had the disc in my library saving me from having to return it.

I'm not looking to stream files just looking to access a relatively current list of items contained in my library.

Is there any of this functionality within JRiver or something that would be of the equivalent?

Thanks Very Much In Advance!

You can use WebGizmo or Gizmo or JRemote.  All are good options.

If your phone is an Android, it's Gizmo.  If your phone is an Apple, it's JRemote. If your phone is neither, but has a web browser, it's WebGizmo.

Well that gives you the list of everything doesn't it?  So it's just a matter of making that work outside your network?  If so, you might need to configure your router to port forward.

You need to forward TCP port 52199 (by default) on your router.
The port used can be set in Tools → Options → Media Network → Advanced.

Make sure that you are using an Access Key to connect to the server in JRemote, and I would recommend enabling Authentication to set a password if you are opening your library to external access.
