Title: CD|PLS|G capabilities
Post by: rar2667 on February 01, 2002, 09:56:26 am
My daughter just got a Karaoke machine that uses CD|PLS|G format.
Will MJ allow me to rip those tracks with the graphics portion?

On MJ7.2 I only got audio, but I think I understand that the CD drive has to support subchannel addressing (mine doesn't), so I don't think I would know if it worked. If I got a drive that would support it, would MJ let me rip and/or burn them?

As far as I know, MJ isn't able to do this even with a drive that supports it. I never heard them talk about it. Maybe someone else knows the future of CD|PLS|G w/ MJ.

Haven't discussed this in a while, so I thought I'd bump it and see if anyone had anything new on the Karaoke front?

does your cd writer support burning this type of cd?

if not you might also need a new burner.

KingSparta,

I have access to a Yamaha drive which does support the sub-channels...just looking for the right software. It would be great id MJ would support CD|PLS|G...nothing like one-stop shopping!!

I have 2 Yamaha Drives CRW2100EZ 40x16x40 And CRW3200EZ 40x24x40

I see nothing on the box that tells me it supports that...

Is it called something else?

I haven't done this personally, but may ofthe sites refer to list of drives that support DC|PLS|G read and/or writes.  Most of them state all Yamaha drives, some Plextor and others. You might look at www.mtu.com.  So far I haven't found a trial version that will confirm that my Yamaha drive will work before buying.

Also, some software says you nee two drives...one to support reading CD|PLS|G and one to support writing...maybe it's mor trouble than its' worth?
